Veolia is one of the largest environmental services companies in the world delivering critical services across waste, water and energy. As part of its commitment to Aboriginal supplier diversity and supporting regional economies, Veolia was seeking to develop an Aboriginal contracting model in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia.
Veolia approached Our Country to explore the potential of marrying the local content expertise of Our Country with Veolia’s operational capacity. Together a fully incorporated joint venture was formed called the North West Waste Alliance (NWWA).
Our Country’s role in the NWWA is to deliver a suite of local content programs built around four pillars, community sponsorships, Keeping Country Clean partnerships, community waste education programs and employment and contracting opportunities.
The NWWA has quickly grown into the largest Aboriginal waste management company in the Pilbara region servicing the waste and recycling needs of major resource companies such as BHP and Woodside.
Tremendous value is in in turn invested back into the local community through Our Country’s suite of programs. Our Country also provides a strong leadership and Directorship role as well as business development, sales and marketing.
